Tours and Speakers

As part of our involvement in the community, we offer tours at Holcomb Station and speaker programs to provide you with a better understanding of the importance of electricity.

Take a Tour Through Holcomb Station

Holcomb Station is a man-made marvel located in western Kansas. The 71,000-square-foot main building climbs 232 feet above the gently rolling plains, and the boiler chimney soars to a breathtaking 474 feet. The imposing presence of Holcomb Station dominates the horizon for miles in every direction.

You can do more than just look at the station from a distance. Visitors, including students, civic organizations, families and other interested groups or individuals, may schedule a tour of the 360-megawatt, coal-fired generating station. To schedule a tour, call Pioneer Electric at (620) 356-1211 or 1-800-794-9302.

Invite a Speaker

Electricity plays a vital role in our modern world, creating jobs and significantly enhancing quality of life. At Pioneer Electric, we know how important electricity is. Our employees want to help your group learn more about the production of electricity, safety, environmental issues and related subjects. We can tailor a presentation to suit your specific interests.

Let us tell you the story of electricity, from the coal mines of the Powder River Basin of Wyoming to the generating facility at Holcomb Station, through the power lines into your homes and businesses. For more information or to schedule a speaker, call Pioneer Electric at (620) 356-1211 or 1-800-794-9302.
