On Friday, June 3, severe thunderstorms rolled across Pioneer Electric's service territory, damaging infrastructure in Stanton and Hamilton Counties. At the height of the storm, Pioneer Electric line crews confirmed 74 downed poles.

At the beginning of 2011, the Pioneer Electric Relay for Life team started planning their fundraisers and set an aggressive goal to raise $5,000. When the goal was set, many thought it was too high and that they would come up short. Not only did the team meet their goal, they exceeded it, by raising $5,757.64.

Danea' Heckman and Logan Brecheisen were among 25 Kansas high school students to witness “Government in Action” first-hand during the 2011 Electric Cooperative Youth Tour in Washington, D.C. Pioneer Electric Cooperative sponsored Heckman and Brecheisen on this trip that took place June 9-16, 2011.
